Tasting Notes: The way Matthias Warnung handles the grape juice is also extremely good for the red wine. Two years in large wooden barrels on the yeast, then filled unfiltered with minimal sulfur. Immensely natural on the nose, great herbal spice: dried sage, fennel, some pencil and flint, but then (still) sour cherries. On the palate a tart -minimalist- texture, good lively acidity, fine muted tannin, slightly tart, again those subtle herbs, intense and long, "rustic" in the best sense of the word. One would not guess a Zweigelt - rather on origin Rhone or Jura, also teacher Tom Lubbe from the winery Matassa sends his regards!
