Bikicki
Fruška Gora, Serbia
Djordje Bikicki founded Bikicki Winery in 2013 on his family's vineyards in Banoštor on the northern slopes of Fruška Gora. A former DJ and environmental engineer, he embraced minimal-intervention, organic winemaking after a pivotal encounter with Oskar Maurer's natural-wine philosophy at a local festival. Today he works around 8–12 ha of certified organic vineyards planted with both international varieties—like Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Traminer—and local grapes such as Tamjanika.
His wines are fermented spontaneously with native yeasts, aged with minimal sulphur, and often see skin contact or concrete vessels—an example is Sfera, a crisp, fresh Sauvignon Blanc–Pinot Grigio blend aged in concrete “sphere” tanks. Another hallmark is Uncensored, an orange Traminer with vibrant candied citrus and earthy spice, praised for its “unfiltered, unbothered” authenticity. His red Veca, made from Crna Tamjanika (Black Muscat), bursts with floral notes of rose and violet over brambly fruit, yet finishes with balanced tannins and freshness.
Bikicki’s vineyards lie on ancient volcanic and clay soils at 45° north—once the Pannonian Sea’s seabed—bordering a national park. The site offers a unique terroir of diverse geology, gentle continental climate moderated by the Danube, and over 3,500 sunny hours a year. Producing around 45,000 bottles annually, Djordje’s wines reflect clarity, balance, and terroir, earning him a reputation as one of Serbia’s leading natural-wine innovators.
In short, Bikicki is a natural winery rooted in Fruška Gora’s storied terroir, crafting expressive, low intervention wines that showcase both global and Serbian grape varieties with authenticity and finesse.
