Julien Renard's wines show that things are changing on the Moselle! Away from boring residual sweet Rieslings, towards finesse, clarity and freshness. His wines are bone-dry, have low alcohol, a fine wildness in the nose, puristic acidity and sparse structure, but at the same time very clear and straightforward. Everything is done by hand in the vineyard and the wine is allowed to do what it wants in the cellar. Fermented spontaneously in used small barrels, without the slightest hint of wood, and stored on the lees until bottling, without filtration.
