Laherte Frères: A Heritage of Excellence in Champagne

Founded in 1889 by Jean-Baptiste Laherte, Laherte Frères is a family-run Champagne house situated in Chavot-Courcourt, near Epernay, in the heart of the Champagne region. Over the generations, the estate has grown to encompass 11 hectares of meticulously tended vineyards across ten communes, showcasing a variety of terroirs.

Biodynamic and Organic Practices
Under the leadership of Aurélien Laherte, the sixth generation, the estate has embraced organic and biodynamic farming practices. These methods prioritize soil health and biodiversity, ensuring that each vine thrives in harmony with its environment. The vineyards feature a mix of grape varieties including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Meunier, and lesser-known regional varieties like Petit Meslier and Fromenteau.

The Laherte family emphasizes minimal intervention in the cellar to allow the true character of their terroir to shine. They employ traditional presses and prefer spontaneous fermentations with natural yeasts. The wines are aged in a variety of vessels, including oak barrels and foudres, to enhance complexity and depth. Dosage is kept low to preserve the wine's natural expression.
