A Rugby Pro Becomes a Winemaker

In the foothills of the Causse d’Aumelas in Haute-Languedoc lies the 12-hectare Mas des Colibris owned by Sébastien Galtier. Trained as an agricultural engineer and a former professional rugby player, Sébastien Galtier decided to become a winemaker at the age of 40 and produced his first biodynamic wines at Mas des Colibris in 2015. The vines—planted with grape varieties typical of the Languedoc such as Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, and Chardonnay—thrive on diverse soils made up of sand, limestone, pebbles, and marl. The estate is located near the charming market town of Gignac in the AOP Languedoc/Grès de Montpellier. Since 2020, the domaine has been Demeter certified.
