Nada
Languedoc-Roussillon, France
Raphaël Baissas de Chastenet, known as “RAF” or “Nada,” crafts raw, zero-sulfur natural wines under Vandal-Wine / Nada in Calce, Roussillon, France. A former IT worker and graffiti artist, he reclaimed 7ha of family vines planted 30 years prior, starting in 2014 after inheriting from his grandfather. Inspired by mentor Jean-Philippe Padié, RAF treats winemaking like painting: spontaneous, instinctive, no additives.
His steep, wild garrigue parcels on limestone/clay yield Grenache, Lledoner Pelut, Maccabeu, and Grenache Gris/Blanc. Foot-trodden harvests ferment with native yeasts in concrete or steel; unfiltered, unfined, zero SO₂. Standouts: “Nature/Peinture” (pulpy Lledoner Pelut red), “Futur” (Grenache), “Cristal” (white blend).
Anticonformist and vital, his wines reflect vintage mood—wild, fruity, tense—with punk ethos: “nada” means “nothing added” and “nothing f**ks.” Small production celebrates carpe diem freedom.
