Seckinger
Pfalz, Germany
Weingut Seckinger is a young and dynamic winery located in Niederkirchen in Germany’s Pfalz region. Founded in 2012 by three brothers—Jonas, Philipp, and Lukas Seckinger—the estate has quickly gained recognition for its bold and modern approach to winemaking. They farm around 14 to 20 hectares of vineyards across renowned sites in the Mittelhaardt and South Palatinate, working entirely biodynamically and organically. Their focus is on maintaining healthy, living soils through the use of cover crops and avoiding all synthetic chemicals.
The Seckinger brothers practice minimal intervention in the cellar. All grapes are hand-harvested, and the wines are spontaneously fermented in wooden barrels with little or no fining and minimal added sulphur. Their style is influenced by regions like Chablis and Jura, resulting in dry, savory wines that often show a lightly oxidative edge. Extended aging on the lees adds depth and complexity.
The soils in their vineyards—ranging from red sandstone and marl to chalk and gravel—contribute to wines with strong terroir expression. One of their standout sites, Kieselberg, is known for producing especially mineral-driven wines. Rather than imposing a specific style, the brothers aim to reflect the purity of each vintage and vineyard.
Today, Weingut Seckinger is considered one of the most exciting natural wine producers in Germany. Their bone-dry Rieslings, as well as expressive Chardonnays and Pinot Gris, have earned them international acclaim for their individuality, precision, and character.
