Zsolt Sütő founded Strekov 1075 in 2002, naming the estate after the first documented mention of his village, Strekov, in the year 1075. Hungarian born, he farms twelve hectares in Slovakia's southernmost and warmest wine region, close to the Hungarian border, from a winery tucked unassumingly behind the village supermarket.
Sütő converted the vineyards to organic farming in 2009 and, from 2017, removed sulphites entirely from his winemaking. Every wine ferments spontaneously with native yeasts, with no additions along the way. This uncompromising, hands off approach has made him one of the defining voices of the natural wine movement in Central and Eastern Europe, and Strekov 1075 wines, particularly his layered, skin contact orange wines, are sought after by sommeliers and collectors internationally. Bottlings such as Fred, Creme, Porta, RiChard and Frankie have become cult favourites. Strekov 1075 now accounts for over a tenth of the certified organic vineyard area in the village, cementing Sütő's role as a regional pioneer.
