Lulu Vigneron: Crafting Natural Wines in the Heart of Jura
Ludwig Bindernagel, affectionately known as "Lulu," along with his partner Nathalie Eigenschenck, has transformed Lulu Vigneron into a beacon of natural winemaking in the Jura region of France. The estate, initially known as Les Chais du Vieux Bourg, was founded in 2002 by the Bavarian-born Ludwig and Parisian Nathalie, who left their previous careers to pursue their passion for viticulture.
Biodynamic Practices and Unique Terroir
Lulu Vigneron practices organic viticulture with a strong emphasis on biodynamic principles, even though they have not pursued official certification. The vineyards, located in Poligny and surrounding areas, benefit from Jura’s unique soil composition, rich in fossilized oysters and marl limestone, providing ideal conditions for their old vines, some of which are 40 to 50 years old. These conditions contribute to the exceptional concentration and quality of their wines.
A Unique Wine Experience
Lulu Vigneron not only focuses on producing high-quality wines but also provides a unique and immersive experience for visitors. Ludwig and Nathalie have created a charming environment in Poligny, where they also run a little hotel. Nathalie's culinary skills and the couple's warm hospitality make a visit to Lulu Vigneron memorable, with dinners and breakfasts that highlight the local food and wine culture of Jura.
