In 1853, under the tenure of Paul Christian Saalwächter as the Mayor of Ingelheim, the foundation was laid for what has now become the esteemed winery.
The new generation, led by Carsten Saalwächter, brings a fresh breeze.
Both then and now, their passion primarily resides with the Burgundy varietals from the calcareous soils of Ingelheim, as well as their counterpart from slate terraces in Assmannshausen. Their aim is to create characterful, terroir-driven, and complex wines that reflect themselves and the region in harmony with nature.
Operating without a grand design but rather guided by intuition and a dash of courage, they endeavor to allow their wines to evolve on their own terms.
