Larissa's Favorite Thirst Quenchers

Larissa's Favorite Thirst Quenchers

May 17, 2022Larissa Graf

Larissa is our wine selector in chief. Here are 10 of her all-time favorites:

10 White Solera - Johannes Zillinger

Assemblage of different vintages, partially skin fermented, partially aged in a solera system. Fruity nose with notes of pineapple, apple cider and citrus fruit. Dry and complex on the palate with a crisp acidity and a long, salty finish.

9 Morei - Foradori - 2019

Fully fruity, with notes of wild blackberry and blueberries. Soft, round, deep, fresh and elegant

8 Lys-Röd N. 30 - Franz Strohmeier - 2019

Blauer Wildbacher, which produces fresh, pale red wines that many liken to Poulsard. Though this may be a little darker in colour, it really dances across the palate, with lots of little red fruits and just a hint of spice.

7 Macerato - Furlani - 2020

Lovely sparkling wine from the Dolomites that is dry but fruity, with notes of grapefruit and pomegranate.

6 Leuto - Tenuta Foresto - 2020

A fruity-fresh and juicy orange wine from the Piedmontese Cortese grape, which is usually used for light, unassuming whites.

5 Brut Lot 3 - Ullens - 0

The base harvest from the year 2015 and with 42% of 'vin de reserve'. The vinification takes place exclusively in oak barrels during 36 months on its own yeasts. With the dosage of 4gr. /l. this champagne is an extra brut. On the nose this champagne has floral hints which evolve into yellow fruit in the glass. On the palate it is bright, exciting and complex.

4 Note Di Rosso - Alessandro Viola - 2020

Hints of ripe red fruit, cherries in alcohol, balsamic notes of eucalyptus and toast. Soft tannin well integrated, juicy, comes the fresh tip with balsamic returns, of good persistence.

3 Grand Cru Frankstein Pinot Gris - Beck-Hartweg - 2017

On the nose aromas of baked apple and pear, lemon zest and white flowers. The palate is fresh, with a citric acidity, but also some roundness for balance.

2 Val de Combrès - Les Vacances - 2020

75% Grenache, 25% Carignan, picked early and fermented with 5 days of skin contact. A light, quaffable red wine with a touch of funk to drink chilled, almost a rosé.

1 Ograde - Skerk - 2019

Ograde is a full bodied and artisanal orange wine, macerated in skins for 15 days, a precious nectar of Karst. The amber color with orange tints and the exuberant and rich aromas of resin, candied fruit, honey and mineral nuances accompany an enveloping and intense taste, endowed with a remarkable crispness and a pleasant aromaticity. Wine made as in the past with artisanal methods.
