Tasting Notes: The perfect wine for lazy weekend afternoons. Franz & Christine wanted to make a “house wine” that involved all different vineyards and varieties that they farm. This includes the recently (2015) planted hybrid, disease resistant varieties such as Muscaris, Souvignier Gris, Bronner and a Swiss clone of Cabernet. Catsilver refers to the shining silica stones that are found throughout their vineyards. All the white grapes undergo a maceration on the skins and the red grapes are directly pressed, before all being aged in used oak barrels for eight months.

Tasting Notes: This is the ancient indigenous variety, Blauer Wildbacher, planted on classic Styrian Opok soils (chalk and marl, rich in minerals). A 10-12 hour maceration took place before the grapes were gently pressed. The juice fermented naturally in stainless steel, with malolactic fermentation also taking place. Secondary fermentation takes place in the bottle. Not disgorged.

Tasting Notes: Rot N°8 is produced from twenty years old vines planted by Franz Strohmeier when he bet on the adaptability of zweigelt and Blauer Wildbacher to climate change, today he can say he produces a great wine. Fermented spontaneously in stainless steel without temperature control in contact with the skins for four weeks, after a period of maturation the wine is bottled without filtration, clarification or the addition of sulfites. Intense ruby red. Notes of orange and white pepper are perceived on the nose, followed by hints of black cherry and a subtle smoky note. On the palate the wine has a juicy texture thanks to the acidity and the right amount of structure. Elegant tannins and remarkable persistence, commendable balance.
